The annual report of the Center for Volcanic and Tectonic Studies (CVTS) contains a series of papers, maps, and reprints that review the progress made by the CVTS between October 1,1991 and December 31, 1992. During this period CVTS staff focused on several topics that had direct relevance to volcanic hazards related to the proposed high-level nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada. These topics included: 1- The role of the mantle during regional extension; 2- The structural controls and emplacement mechanisms of Pliocene/Quaternary basaltic centers and dikes; 3-The detailed geochemistry of individual volcanic centers in Crater Flat, Nevada; 4- ) Estimating the probability of disruption of the proposed repository by volcanic eruption
